What is an eclipse in astrology?

In modern astrology, eclipses are accelerators of fate. They mark moments where the cosmos is rearranging — endings come faster, beginnings hit harder, truths surface that were buried for years. They occur in pairs (a solar followed by a lunar, or vice versa) roughly every six months, and the effects ripple for the following six months.

Solar vs lunar — what's the difference?

Solar eclipses happen at the new moon. They plant seeds — new beginnings, identity shifts, fresh chapters. Energy is bright, public, future-facing.
Lunar eclipses happen at the full moon. They cause releases — endings, reckonings, what's hidden surfacing. Energy is internal, emotional, revealing.

How to ride an eclipse

Don't make major decisions in the eclipse window. Wait at least 48 hours after. The cosmos is in flux.
Notice what surfaces. Dreams, sudden insights, old contacts reappearing — these are the eclipse speaking.
Honor the ending. If something or someone leaves during the window, let them. Eclipses don't return what's been released.
