What is the Chinese lunar calendar?

The Chinese lunar calendar — properly the lunisolar calendar — has been in continuous use for over four thousand years. Each month begins on a new moon. Years cycle through 12 zodiac animals (Rat → Pig) and 10 heavenly stems, producing the sexagenary cycle of 60 unique year names that repeats every 60 years. 2026 (Bǐngwǔ (丙午)) is the Year of the Horse, beginning February 17.

What are the Four Pillars?

Your BaZi (八字), or "Eight Characters," is built from the four pillars of Year, Month, Day and Hour of your birth — each represented by one Heavenly Stem and one Earthly Branch. Together they form a complete energetic signature of who you are. Calculate yours →

What is Tong Shu?

Tong Shu (通書), the Chinese almanac, lists auspicious and inauspicious activities for every day of the year, based on the day's pillar and other astrological factors. Above we show simplified guidance — what's favored and what to avoid today based on today's Earthly Branch ().
